My philosophy
Life presents all of us with challenges which can sometimes seem insurmountable.
Often this failure to move forward in our lives is rooted in difficult or traumatic events from our past history which we have suppressed or from which we have distanced ourselves, consciously or subconsciously. By learning how to confront these events, and addressing the negative patterns of behaviour they provoke, we have the opportunity to understand ourselves and our behaviours better; from there, we can move forward in our lives and in our relationships more holistically and constructively.

My professional experience
Over the last 13 years, I have worked in mental health. My experience includes: working as a placement psychologist at the Koan Practice, at Terrence Higgins Trust, at Act1, at Bridge, and at a needle exchange programme.
I have also founded and ran groups for: people diagnosed as having HIV, adolescents struggling with sexuality and gender identity issues, drug and alcohol addiction, and individuals convicted of domestic violence.
During this same period I have engaged in extensive private practice in the UK, the US and France. My professional diversity has afforded me the privilege of counselling a broad range of individuals and groups, over a wide range of issues. I have considerable experience of working individually with adolescents as well as adults with learning disabilities, challenging behaviours and mental illnesses.
Much of my private practice work has been focused on group, individual and couple’s therapy sessions for people struggling with alcohol/drug and behavioural addictions. In my spare time I write an advice column for Alpha Tribe magazine and write books on mental health matters.
